The newly founded Orchestra of the European Union brings together 92 players from the main orchestras of the 28 capital cities of the member states. From Concertgebouw Amsterdam to Wiener Symphoniker, and from Orchestre National de France and Philharmonia London to Budapest Festival Orchestra and l'Orchestra della Santa Cecilia, members of renowned ensembles played together for the first time at the Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest. The concert was conducted by Maestro Ion Marin, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Romanian Presidency of the EU. The program included George Enesco's Romanian Rhapsody no.1 and the Ode to Joy - Finale of the Ninth Symphony - by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The first edition of the Prague Festival "Mahler and Theresienstadt Composers" will star conductor Ion Marin in the closing concert on August, 27th, with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
From March, 31st to April, 23rd, Maestro Ion Marin has conducted Anna Bolena at Teatro alla Scala in Milano. It is the second production by Donizetti in the theatre's repertoire so far, after L’elisir d’amore.
On January, 8th, Maestro Marin conducted the New Year's concert with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. Martha Argerich was the soloist in Liszt's First Piano Concerto.
On October, 11th, the Maestro has conducted the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra for the season opening concert.
